Buck Taylor Track, Karekare.

My friends and I were walking along Buck Taylor Track at Karekare Beach.
We had just up and overed the steep terrain and walked through the marsh, when we saw a couple in the yonder.

Is that man naked?
No, he can't be.
He must be wearing very tiny, beige shorts.

We continue walking over the black sand towards the shoreline, coming across this couple again.
This man is indeed naked. Except for his pack and shoes.
His companion is fully clothed.

They double back and walk past us. He flops freely.

We walk quite a way behind them back to the track. We think we have lost them, until while heading back over the steep terrain, we are directly faced with a fleshy white bottom.
He and his companion are resting. They say hello, his thigh is strategically placed, Tish says, Nice day to stretch your legs.

Robbie, Aya & Tyler

I recently photographed this delightful family, who live in Japan. Robbie is originally from Canada and he's lived there for 13 years - in that time he met the beautiful Aya and recently they have been joined by little Tyler.
This was their first time in New Zealand and they wanted to have some family photos amongst some of our finest greenery. So off to Cornwall Park we went!

I'm so happy these photos are going across the ocean with this lovely family!

Gemma getting ready for her wedding.

I'm at a time in my life where many of my friends are getting married, and it always presents the dilemma of whether I am to be a guest or photograph. My dear school friends and I have come to the compromise that I will photograph them getting ready and then from the ceremony onwards, I can party on!
I was very happy to travel to Clyde recently to watch my lovely friend Gemma marry Corey.

I joined Gemma and the girls in the morning as they got ready to capture all of the little details.

The final touches...

I cannot explain how hot and bright this Clyde day was. We found some shady spots for the fastest pre-shoot ever as Gemma had to get to the ceremony!
Gemma looks beautiful all the time, but she truly makes a stunning bride.

The girls looked wonderful.

I had a hot date for the day (Jessi in the pink) and I must say we were wonderful wining, dining and dancing partners. That's Jahan and little Ariana below.

This dessert deserves a special mention. The chef told us this is 10 pavalovas stacked, carved and covered in meringues, cream and strawberries.

I'll finish off with Corey and Gem giggling their way through their first dance.

Sal Valentine

I got a phone call one day from a smooth dude named Ivan, who asked if I would like to take press shots for his band, Sal Valentine & the Babyshakes who are "the best band in Auckland."

Ivan needed the photos pretty quickly and two days later, we were in my dining room, Ivan was wearing a beautiful suit and the usual members of the Babyshakes (there are about 100 of them) were replaced (in press shots only) by a beautiful lady named Daisy.
We had about 30 minutes of light left, so it was a bit of a rush - but we were super happy with the result.
The music of Sal Valentine & the Babyshakes is all original and it has a wonderful, big band, party time energy. You can download some tunes for free from their bandcamp.

I love when an unexpected surprise appears when I'm photographing another subject.

Bob & Ruth

Now, this is a wedding I cannot wait for.
I met Bob through his grandson Hayden, who is the brains behind the band Great North. I was asked to photograph Bob about a year ago for the inner sleeve of their album cover, which I don't think I ever put on my blog, I will do that one day...
Anywho, when I got the phone call that Bob had met a wonderful woman named Ruth, and they needed a photographer for their upcoming nuptials - I was ecstatic! These guys are completely in love and are getting married next month.
We spent Saturday afternoon checking out the reception venue at the Auckland Botanical Gardens and decided to take a few snaps while we were perusing the perennials.
