I went to my first wedding of the season (as a guest) this past weekend - so I thought I'd finish off Portrober with a bunch of engagement and wedding kisses (how romantic!)
Obviously I found it quite difficult to keep up with this self imposed task, but hey! they've arrived in the end...

This image is kind of a disaster. It was my first try at shooting a person (dear Jim Cooper) with a 4x5 camera, I also haven't taken very good care of it as it is scratched to buggery.
Things I love about this shot:
- The shape of the kilns in the background
- The sharpness of the box down the bottom.
- Jim's vibrancy in movement.

One day, my wonderful friend Hannah Curwood and I grabbed her dog (Hayes), a horse, slathered them all in glitter and staged a ghostly shoot for her promo shots.
That evening, my laptop was stolen from my dining room table - I freaked out about how much work Hannah and I had just gone through - luckily we recovered the images through a deep scan of my camera's memory stick. Just letting you know, this is something you can do and it's awesome.

Wahoo! I'm really happy I can show you today's portrait, the cover of the long awaited debut album from Sal Valentine & the Babyshakes.
You can listen to stream the whole album on Cheese on Toast.

Today Claire came to straight to work from having a local anaesthetic at the dentist. We immediately staged a photo shoot next to the holds shelf at the bookstore using available light and black coat.

Today, Sal Valentine & the Babyshakes are releasing their single. Check it out!
We took this shot at the amazing Bar18 on Dominion Rd. It definitely meets all of my mood lighting, dry ice and karaoke needs.

This was taken on my little snappy digital at the Boryeong Mud Festival. Everything was so wet and muddy (obvs) that my camera did not last the weekend.
On my original blog post, I wrote that this little man "melts and freezes my heart at the same time."
I still agree.

This is little Thu and her grandmother preparing a bath and then going out to play with neighbours. I couldn't choose one portrait! Luckily, I am friends with Thu's Dad Tien on facebook - so I can always see photos of her growing up!
I wrote more about this day here.

This photo was taken as a potential press shot for my dear friend Anthonie Tonnon. We were driving through Paeroa to pick up vintage goods and lunch, when we stumbled on this incredible cafe, Tui's Takeaways. I bought a chicken and kumara pie and then asked if we could take some snaps.
We later decided that Tono's posture wasn't right to use this image for press - but I still think it has a great mood.

It's quite a luxurious position to be able to correct a lighting situation while photographing strangers.
I only took these two shots of these cute little girls, but I was very happy to be able to jump on the other side of them so the light came from behind me, rather than them.

I've gotten a little behind because I am in the midst of a full on sinus infection. Luckily I'm not doing froctober as I would have only been capable of laying a dress on top of my fever ridden body.
The tungsten bathroom light has not been forgiving in this image, however I still really like it.

In Korea, young men complete compulsory military or police service. From afar, they look like just an ordinary group of uniformed men. But, it's when you get closer, you see how young they really are.
I'm so happy I caught this image from a moving bus.

Mum and I tried to recreate a photo of me with Maeve in the same dress. It didn't really work like we had planned, as we had an unenthusiastic model who wasn't rolling with our vision. However, I do love some of the shots I got - especially this one as it shows off my dress beautifully.
