Man, fruit trees are awesome! I made 2 batches of limeade yesterday.
1 cup of freshly squeezed lime juice (usually about 10 limes)
2 tablespoons of honey (I've luckily got some home made honey from one of our regular Time Out customers.)
2/3 cup sugar
3 cups of water
I mixed the sugar and honey with 1/2 cup of boiling water to dissolve and then added the rest of the portion in cold water. It's very sweet so I think less sugar can be used. We drank it with ginger ale and I'm pretty sure it will go very well with some gin!
This is Iris and Rex. Iris was Greer's student in Korea and Rex also studied at our school. They came over for a few days so we met up for a delicious lunch at The Occidental, a pub famous for its mussels and Belgian beer.
I had blue cheese and spinach steamed mussels and they were incredible - so good that I could eat them through my hangover leftover from the Rocky Horror shenanigans the night before.
It was so nice to spend time with people from our lovely town of Wong Dang.
Dudley Benson is a magical musician. I was so happy to be able to photograph him at Te Mahurehure Marae in Point Chevalier and to enjoy the tea and biscuits served after. Dudley and the whole production was extremely charming.
Here is Dudley's website, where you can listen to some of his songs and check out his amazing portraits. My favourite song at the moment is Rapaki, especially as he uses the word "rascally" in it.
And here is Tono's review on Groove Guide, where he explains the concept of the new album and describes the show beautifully.
We were informed by our neighbours last night that our street is THE street to go trick or treating.
We bought some amazing treats (fair trade too!) and lots of people just walked straight past our house (it doesn't have the most amazing exterior compared to our suburban wonderland street.) But those who had faith were rewarded.
These are our cute neighbours and they didn't seem to be too badly affected by our partying until 4.30am the night before. They even gave us their leftover lollies to hand out when they went out - super sweet.
